A Lizard's Tale
In early medieval times it was believed that the lizard could heal it's own blindness by looking into the Eastern Sun, here at LT, we hope to keep light on the matter but keep tall tales at bay.

Spring Crown News and Thank You

Feb. 29, 2008

May 01, 2008, Lyndhaven/New Brunswick (SCA)
Info. gleaned from: Lyndhaven List | 2008- EK Spring Crown List

Our little (in size, not ability) shire received big raves for the event we pulled off this last weekend of April, but we could not have done so without all the help everyone both near and far has given so selflessly. Of course, the most important moment of that event was the choosing of our new Prince and Princess... Their Royal Highnesses Darius Orientalis and Alethea Eastriding!

and... because an event is never without it's large list of thank yous!
From the Autocrat, Aotrou Conogan mab Rioc Dubh:

"Greetings unto the good gentles of our great kingdom!
I would like to send out a sincere and heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who volunteered and made our shire's first crown tourney a success.

Specifically...

I would like to thank Their Majesties for believing in our little shire (where exactly IS Lyndhaven?) when we put forth our bid for this event. It took a lot of trust to accept a bid from a branch and autocrat They knew were untested by a kingdom-level event. Thank You for that trust and belief. Your Majesties gave us the gifts of opportunity and challenge. I hope we have proven worthy of Your gifts.

I would like to thank Gebeidster Mergriet van Wijenhorst for putting on such a wonderful feast for us, despite some major hurdles. She lead an awesome team of people, and her vision for the feast was executed beautifully.

I would of course like to thank everyone else who volunteered. There are too many more names for me to list in this missive. To put it into perspective, we put pen to paper quickly came up with over 30 names from our little shire alone. We also had volunteers from all over Ruantallan, from Ar n-Eilean-ne, from Havre des Glaces, and from l'Ile du Dragon Dormant. This was truly a great regional effort, and it reinforces my pride in the Northern Shores. Of course, there were all of the hard-working and extremely talented volunteers from every other region of our great kingdom. When everyone came together, it was quite inspiring to see how well we worked together!

Lastly, I would like to thank the entrants and consorts for coming to this tourney. I have heard dozens of comments about how honourable and chivalrous the entrants were, and how gracious and courteous were the consorts. You, and you alone, have chosen our new prince and princess. You should ALL be proud of your involvement.

I feel like a truant child to have taken so long to get to this message, but I tried to thank as many people as I could face to face.

Now comes the paperwork.

Yours in Service to the Dream,
Aotrou Conogan mab Rioc Dubh"
